About Us
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR is an award-winning, industry-leading magazine for the electrical construction sector. The magazine is published in print and online formats by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and is distributed to 80,000+ subscribers each month. Our audience consists of electrical contractor firm owners, engineers, estimators, purchasing agents, project managers, supervisors, journeymen and apprentice electricians. Our expert writers cover the latest updates in codes and standards, safety, tools, low-voltage, and more.
We’ve been publishing continuously since 1935—so we know a thing or two about the industry. And the demand for the latest industry stories hasn’t stopped.
We also offer two quarterly supplements geared to specific audiences within our subscriber base. Recognizing the vital role that safety plays in the industry, SAFETY LEADER brings readers important topics in safety leadership, codes and standards, PPE, workplace safety and more every February, May, August and November.
Started in 2021, LINE CONTRACTOR is published in March, June, September and December. It focuses on everything related to outside line construction, such as construction and maintenance, high-voltage transmission and distribution, substations, outside line safety and more.
History
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR was first published in its current form in 1935, and in previous iterations since 1901. As long as NECA has been around, so has a magazine serving the whole electrical construction industry. The magazine first went online starting in 2000, and has since gone through several designs with hundreds of articles shared both online and in print ever since.
The first issue of NECA's first magazine, The National Electrical Contractor, published in 1901.
