The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) selected Jack Wells, vice president of corporate development for Pass & Seymour/Legrand, as the inaugural recipient of the foundation’s Outstanding Service Award. Established in honor of Harold Leviton, a leader in the electrical industry, this award recognizes an individual who has shown a desire to promote electrical safety and who has steadfastly promoted ESFI’s mission.

“Mr. Wells has long been recognized as an industry leader in promoting electrical safety,” said Brett Brenner, ESFI president. “His commitment and dedication to making homes safer has been heroic.”

As a member of ESFI’s Board of Directors from 2005 to 2007, Wells helped the organization forge new relationships within the industry and expand the scope of the foundation’s expertise.

“I am honored to accept this award,” Wells said. “The ongoing partnership with Electrical Safety Foundation International has proven to be an effective way to get the electrical safety message out and to raise the bar for industry best practices.”

Wells is a past recipient of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association’s (NEMA) Kite and Key Award, given in recognition of outstanding service to NEMA. In addition, Wells received the President’s Award from Underwriters Laboratories Inc. in 2002 for “a career-long body of work that improved public safety.” Most recently, Wells was honored with the formal dedication of the 2008 National Electrical Code Handbook.
