J.M. Electrical Co., a Lynnfield, Mass., contractor with a specialty in advanced automation building system installations, recently completed project operations at the 85,000-square-foot Hanscom Air Force Base Middle School in Bedford, Mass., which holds 312 students. The project began in December 2015.
The middle school is an environmentally friendly building with systems that include photovoltaic panels, rainwater harvesting, solar hot water, and a high-performance heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system. J.M. Electrical installed control wiring for all HVAC equipment in the building, including hot and chilled water systems, air handling units and terminal boxes.
The facility was required to meet 21st century learning standards and is designed to encourage students to make the most of their learning experiences, as well as maintain a sustainable environment. With the help of J.M. Electrical’s advanced automation system installation, the school will continue to meet that goal.
“We are pleased to have been chosen to install an advanced HVAC system at Hanscom Middle School and to note that the project has been completed on time and on budget,” said John Guarracino, project manager at J.M. Electrical.
“It was beneficial to work with J.M. Electrical on the installation of the advanced automation system, which will increase energy efficiency in the building and ensure the optimal learning environment for the students of Hanscom Middle School,” said Jon Braley, president of J&J Contractors, Lowell, Mass.
“Putting together something this intricate is no easy task,” said Col. David Dunklee, installation commander of the 66th Air Base Group. “Putting it together on a tight timeline is almost impossible.”
