On February 15, at 2 p.m., ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR and Belden partnered to present a free webinar, "Connecting the Digital Building." The recording is now available below. It's recommended for electrical and low voltage contractors, engineers, and designers with an eye forward to the advancement of technology in buildings and the implications for cabling, connectivity, and power.

Event description

Current trends in enterprise networks--access to applications and data through the cloud; connecting devices to collect, analyze, and act on data (aka, Internet of Things); and convergence to a signal internet protocol--are happening in part due to the enabling technologies of power over Ethernet (PoE) and increased wireless access speeds. As a result, the enterprise building is evolving into the digital building.

The digital building presents new challenges. In this webinar, you will learn:

• New deployment strategies of in ceiling zone cabling

• Connectivity options including Direct Connect and 28AWG patch cords

• Changes to the standards including Limited Power cabling and plenum ratings for components

Presenter

Ron Tellas, Technology and Applications Manager for LAN at Belden, represents Belden in the ISO WG3 committee and TIA TR42 Premises Cabling Standards and serves as the editor of the revision to TIA TSB-184; Guidelines for Supporting Power Delivery Over Balanced Twisted-Pair Cabling. Ron has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, and a Master of Business Administration from Purdue University.
