ABB’s 7-in. Ty-Rap cable tie is designed to withstand the demands of space flight and resist corrosion and radiation in extreme environments. NASA used it to fasten the Perseverance Rover’s interior and exterior conduit and components and to secure research and lab equipment. Perseverance landed on Mars on Feb. 18.

HellermannTyton’s blind hole mount cable ties come preassembled with metal locking mechanism secured to a nylon body. The metal component flexes to allow insertion. It is available in several models, including one with an offset mount that can be removed without cutting the cable tie and an all-plastic models for use with threaded holes only. To remove, users can snip the cable tie and use a hex screw to remove the mount.
