Daniel Alfieri is the Utility Operations Manager at H. Richardson & Sons in Geneva, NY, bringing over 15 years of experience in the electrical utility industry as an IBEW 1249 Journeyman Lineman and General Foreman.

A graduate of the NECA Apprenticeship Program, the Line Construction Advancement Fund 2025 Leadership Development Program, and the LCAF 2026 Do Safety Differently Symposium, Daniel holds an MBA from SUNY Brockport and a B.A. in International Relations from Syracuse University — a foundation that informs his people-first approach to leadership and safety.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Daniel brings the same discipline and commitment to his work in the electrical utility industry. Having risen through the ranks from Journeyman to General Foreman, he understands the demands of field work firsthand and brings that perspective to his commitment to safety and operational excellence. Certified in OSHA 30, Confined Space, and Avangrid Switching and Tagging, Daniel has made incident prevention a cornerstone of his work — empowering his teams to identify hazards, report near misses, and build a culture of continuous improvement on every job site.

Homero Barrera

Safety Manager, Alterman Inc.

With more than 15 years of safety experience, Barrera is a dedicated safety professional focused on employee safety and fostering an incident- and injury-free culture. He holds a Bachelor of Science in environmental management and has earned both his ASP and CSP credentials through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, demonstrating his technical knowledge, leadership and commitment to advancing workplace safety. His background includes strengthening safety programs and implementing key safety initiatives that support compliance, reduce risk and increase employee engagement. With a proactive and collaborative approach, Barrera is committed to cultivating a safe work environment where employees are equipped and empowered to work safely every day.

Ryan Bomgardner

Manager of Safety and Quality - TDS, Central Region, I.B. Abel Inc.

Bomgardner started his electrical industry career in 2000, as an apprentice with an electric utility, after completing a tour of duty in the United States Marine Corps. He spent his first three years performing underground residential distribution work and then transitioned into substation work. He achieved journeyman status in October 2006. During his employment with the utility, he also served as foreman, construction supervisor and regional field manager. Bomgardner became a certified utility safety professional in 2018. After leaving the utility in 2019, he entered the contractor market, and held roles including project manager, construction manager and quality assurance manager. He transitioned into a safety role when the opportunity to lead a team of safety professionals presented itself in 2025. Bomgardner's goal is to use his knowledge and experience to keep field workers safe while performing their duties at work and in their personal lives. He believes that sharing personal experiences makes people think twice when they face the same circumstances. You will never know how many accidents you prevent by sharing knowledge.

Katy Brown

Safety Officer, Taft Electric Co.

Brown launched her career in the electrical industry through the JATC apprenticeship program with IBEW Local 11 in Los Angeles, where she quickly distinguished herself through dedication, discipline and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Upon completing her apprenticeship, she advanced rapidly into a foreman role, earning the respect of her peers and leadership alike by consistently delivering high quality work while fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork on every job site. Guided by the Union principle that “ We are our Brother’s and Sister’s Keepers,” Brown has always placed safety at the core of her professional mission. In 2022, she transitioned into a safety management role with Taft Electric Co., where she has become a driving force in strengthening workplace safety practices and empowering crews to take ownership of their well-being. She earned her safety trained supervisor construction and construction health and safety technician certifications, underscoring her expertise and dedication. Brown’s leadership elevates safety standards and inspires a culture where every team member returns home safely, whch makes her a true advocate and champion for her fellow brothers and sisters.

Cameron Chandler

Safety Officer, Taft Electric Co.

Chandler serves as a safety officer for Taft Electric Co., where he is responsible for supporting and advancing safety initiatives across a range of electrical construction projects throughout California. With certifications including safety trained supervisor construction and OSHA 30, Chandler specializes in electrical safety, risk management, regulatory compliance and field safety leadership. His work includes developing activity hazard analyses, overseeing energized work planning, supporting lockout/tagout programs, conducting job site audits and collaborating with project teams to ensure safe and productive operations. Passionate about continuous improvement and professional development, Chandler is actively involved in industry safety education and leadership initiatives through NECA and other professional organizations. He is committed to fostering a strong safety culture that protects employees while helping projects achieve operational excellence. Chandler believes that effective safety leadership is built on communication, accountability and proactive hazard recognition, and he strives to make safety an integral part of every project's success.

Nick Evangelista

Evangelista is the first chapter staff member to graduate from the NECA Safety Professionals Institute, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in sports communications from Marist University. He is committed safety excellence and industry collaboration throughout the electrical construction community.

Christopher Gilchrist

Safety Coordinator, Miller Electric Co.

Gilchrist serves as regional safety manager at Miller Electric Co., where he provides strategic oversight of safety programs across multiple projects and drives a culture of accountability, compliance and continuous improvement. Since joining the organization in 2023, he has rapidly advanced through roles of increasing responsibility, culminating in his promotion to regional safety manager in 2026.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran with 22 years of service, Gilchrist brings extensive experience in operations leadership, logistics, and risk management within high-consequence environments. He is recognized for aligning safety initiatives with operational goals, leveraging data-driven insights to reduce risk and developing high-performing teams.

Gilchrist is committed to advancing safety excellence through strong leadership, disciplined execution and a proactive approach to protecting people and optimizing performance.

 

Austin Gilley

Safety Director, Womack Electric Co. Inc.

Gilley believes the best safety program is one that people actually respect not because they have to, but because they know it protects them. His job isn't to slow work down; it's to make sure every employee has the knowledge, equipment, and confidence to go home in the same condition they arrived. Safety isn't about checking boxes it's about building a culture where everyone looks out for each other.

Bethany Glisson

Safety Specialist, GEM Inc.

Glisson began her career in 2019 as a first-year apprentice in Local 32. While going through the apprenticeship, I worked as lead on a few projects focusing heavily on the safety side of the projects. Glisson found a lot of enjoyment in helping her co-workers be safe, and found she had a passion for safety. Once Glisson finished the apprenticeship, she was placed into a hybrid field and safety role. She then had the opportunity to become a full-time safety specialist with GEM Inc. While working for GEM Glisson was able to help rewrite and update the safe electrical work policies and procedures as well as help standardize when and how we are training field personnel when needing to perform energized work. While working at GEM she was able to complete her OSHA 500, which allowed her to teach OSHA 30 at GEM and for the local when needed. GEM also helped her obtain my STSC certification. GEM Inc. is a multi-trade company, and with the knowledge gained by attending NSPI she  plans to continue improving all the departments along with the safety department.

Brooke Henry

Safety Coordinator, Pinnacle Electric Inc.

Henry joined Pinnacle Electric Inc. in January 2023 as an administrative specialist, overseeing accounts payable and payroll operations. As her role within the company grew, she developed a strong interest in workplace safety and assumed the additional responsibilities of safety coordinator.

Since joining Pinnacle Electric, she has led the effort to modernize the company’s safety program, including a comprehensive update of its safety manual to better align with current industry standards and best practices. She is passionate about promoting a culture of safety and ensuring employees have the resources and training needed to work safely every day.

To further her professional development and commitment to workplace safety, she is currently pursuing her associate safety professional certification. She looks forward to continuing her growth in the safety profession while supporting Pinnacle Electric’s dedication to employee well-being and operational excellence.

Chris LaCoy

Superintendent, Schenectady Hardware & Electric Co. Inc.

LaCoy graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with a degree from the electrical construction and maintenance program. A short time later, he joined the IBEW-NECA apprenticeship program while working for SH&E. Upon completion, he took a position as foreman and supervised a wide range of large-scale commercial and institutional projects for nearly two decades.

In 2021, LaCoy was promoted to superintendent. In this role, his responsibilities include assisting with project management, overseeing all labor to ensure each job is ran effectively and efficiently, and maintaining the highest possible standards of safety and well-being for SH&E employees and partners.

Perez is a safety professional with over 10 years of experience and earned his CHST certification in 2025. He specializes in electrical safety across oil and gas, refinery, commercial construction and data center environments. His field-first approach emphasizes practical, visible safety leadership built on trust. Perez focuses on strengthening safety culture, improving communication and supporting teams with solutions that protect workers while driving project success. Motivated by his wife and three boys, he is committed to ensuring every worker returns home safely.

Charles Rayder

Safety Director, Five Star Electric Corp.

Rayder earned a Bachelor of Science degree in safety and occupational health applied sciences from Keene State College before entering the IBEW Local 3 apprenticeship program and becoming a journeyman electrician. Combining formal safety education with firsthand field experience has shaped his practical approach to construction safety.

As safety director for Five Star Electric, Rayder oversee safety operations on some of New York City’s largest electrical construction projects. He works closely with executive leadership, field supervision and the workforce to strengthen the safety culture through employee engagement, technology, training and improvement initiatives.

Rayder am most proud of the cultural transformation Five Star Electric has achieved over the past several years, creating an environment where employees actively participate in safety. He holds the construction health and safety technician and certified electrical safety compliance professional credentials and remain committed to advancing safety throughout the electrical construction industry.

Robert Salcedo

EH&S Manager, Haugland Group

Salcedo started his journey in the environmental health and safety industry in 2016, working with a civil and mechanical company in New York City’s constant growing market. Now part of the Haugland Group family, where he uses his experience developing and implementing workplace safety programs that protect employees, strengthens compliance and promotes operational excellence. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with leadership and field teams to foster a proactive safety culture, conduct risk assessments, lead training initiatives, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.

Pete Schniedermeier

With over a decade of experience in the construction industry, Schniedermeier has developed a strong background in environmental health and safety across a wide range of project types. He began his career as an on-site safety medic on a high-rise project, where responding to and investigating workplace injuries shaped his proactive, prevention-focused approach to safety. This experience continues to drive his commitment to identifying hazards, mitigating risk and striving for zero injuries. He holds several industry credentials, including CHST, OSHA 500, NFPA 70E, HAZWOPER 40 and EMT-B licensure. Today, he remains dedicated to advancing safety culture through practical application, training and continuous improvement within the electrical construction industry.

Alex Servin

Servin is a certified safety professional with over 20 years in the construction industry. Half of his industry career was spent in the field, learning and leading different trades. His experience includes drywall foreman, electrical lead and assistant superintendent for a general contractor. Servin sees himself as being "part of the crew" and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of construction professionals by sharing lessons learned through firsthand experience. His commitment to continuous improvement has motivated him to complete his MBA while remaining closely connected to field operations. Today, he focuses on empowering craft professionals through support and engagement while fostering a culture of safety, accountability and professional growth.

Rod Smith

Safety Manager, Nantze Electric

Smith is an experienced safety management professional with over three decades of experience supporting electrical, utility, telecommunications, industrial and commercial construction environments. He currently serves as safety manager for Nantze Electric, where he helps build a strong safety culture, manages employee onboarding and training, develops safety policies and procedures, creating safety manuals and contractor compliance platforms, and supports job site safety performance. Smith’s background includes regional safety leadership, where he provides safety inspections, training, accident prevention, incident investigations, OSHA compliance support and claims management across multiple states. He is an OSHA 502 and OSHA 10/30 authorized trainer, as well as a Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED trainer. In his off time he enjoys camping and gardening with his wife Telisa and their three dogs, Lacy, Lilly and Rex.

Amanda Soldner

Safety Program Coordinator, Hooper Corp.

Soldner transitioned into the safety profession after starting her career in education, bringing nearly a decade of experience in learning and development to the field. She joined Hooper Corp. in 2024 as part of its safety training group, where she initially focused on applying learning science and instructional design principles to support employee development across the electric power and mechanical divisions. In her current role, Soldner works on strategic initiatives that support the continuous improvement of Hooper's overall safety program. She enjoys collaborating with other safety professionals, operations leaders and field employees to better understand how individuals learn, make decisions and perform work in the field. She is particularly interested in creating systems that make it easier for people to do great work safely.
