A large car manufacturer undertook a project to construct a facility to meet the growing demand for EV batteries. Champion Fiberglass^Ⓡ electrical conduit was selected to provide solutions to meet the stringent requirements of this initiative.

Challenge

The project demanded a robust and cost-effective solution for extensive underground conduit runs. Traditional materials like galvanized rigid conduit (GRC) were too costly, heavy and labor-intensive. Additionally, maintaining a steady supply of materials without causing project delays was critical.

Solution

Champion Fiberglass collaborated with the project distributor and multiple contractors to supply 35,000 feet of 6-inch fiberglass conduit. Champion Fiberglass maintained a shipping schedule delivering materials every two to three weeks, keeping the project on track. The conduit’s gasket joining system further simplified underground installation, reducing the need for adhesives and mechanical joints. Additionally, the lightweight and easy-to-install nature of fiberglass conduit ensured labor savings.
