Platinum Tools’ CCS-6 cable cutters are designed to cut coaxial cable with steel center conductor and cut through copper and aluminum cable. Blade geometry ensures that the cable stays round during the cutting process so connectors can easily be affixed to the cable. It features PVC handle grips.

Ridgid’s manual cable cutters feature curved and surface-ground blades made of high-coated steel for durability and blade lifetime. The longer handles give more leverage and reduce operator fatigue. Greenlee’s ESG105LXR Gator remote cable cutter cuts cables up to 4.13 in. and offers users the option to make cuts by remote control or in manual handheld mode. It uses Bluetooth communication and a blade sensor system to help confirm that the cut has been completed. Users can remotely move the blade to stop and reverse. The battery gauge protocol tells the user if there is enough battery life to finish cuts before the process begins.

Milwaukee Tool’s cordless 12V cable cutter generates 5,000 lbs. of force. The scissor-style jaws enable cutting in crowded panels without looping, ratcheting or long arms. An LED light illuminates the line of cut. With an open jaw, powered ratcheting mechanism and blade geometry, it fits into tight spaces and cuts through large-diameter cable, leaving an installation-ready cut. 

Greenlee’s ES32LX 18V in-line cable cutter is lightweight and easy to control, and one trigger controls all tool functions. The tool automatically retracts when the cutting cycle is complete, and the head rotates 360 degrees. It is designed for use inside panelboards because of its small size. 

Burndy’s Patriot cable-cutting tool is insulated and designed for a long reach. It is available in 82- and 94-in. lengths and provides users increased flashover protection and extended reach for live line cutting. It performs cuts in less than 15 seconds, which minimizes exertion and time.

DeWalt’s 20V cable-cutting tool is designed to cut copper and aluminum cable. It features a bright LED light that helps to illuminate the cutting area. The inline forward/reverse switch offers a convenient one-handed operation.

Knipex Tools’ 11-in. ratcheting cable cutter cuts up to 750 MCM copper and aluminum single conductors as well as multiple stranded cables, though it is not suitable for steel wire and wire ropes. It has precision-ground, hardened blades and a two-stage ratchet drive. The 1,000V multi-component handles meet or exceed ASTM, IEC and VDE specifications. It is made of high-grade special tools steel, forged and oil-hardened.

Greenlee’s Gator ESR1000LX ratcheting cable cutter is designed for one-handed operation and can cut up to a 1,000 kcmil in copper and 1,250 kcmil in aluminum. It has a forward-reverse button with safety lock. The handle is designed to reduce hand strain and has an overmolded grip. It is lightweight with a well-balanced center of gravity to optimize hand positioning.

Ridgid’s RC-40 manual cable cutter has curved, surface-grinded blades made of high-coated steel, and it uses a ratchet mechanism to make cuts. It has impact-resistant handles, a locking mechanism and an enclosed spring. A pawl release allows blades to be released any point during cutting.


Milwaukee Tool’s M18 Force Logic 3-in. underground cable cutter is exclusively paired with a wireless remote that allows linemen to initiate a cut from a safe distance using Bluetooth. A light indicates when the cut is complete. It can cut up to 1,500 MCM Cu 15 kV and produces 9 tons of hydraulic output force. Its handle and hook are designed for suspension in vaults and manholes. The open scissor-style jaws and inline design enable users to scoop up cable in trenches.

Platinum Tools’ MCM racheted cable cutter, designed for one-handed operation, cuts stranded, flexible copper and aluminum cable up to 500 MCM. It features ground-fixed and moving steel cutting blades. It also has ergonomic, nonslip handles; a locking latch for safe storage; and a rust-resistant black oxide finish. 


Greenlee Textron’s ES32FML micro cable cutter uses a 10.8V battery platform and has the capacity to cut 11/4-in. fine-stranded copper cable. It has a 350-degree rotating blade head, an autoretract blade feature, a battery level indicator and a built-in LED for illumination while working.
