Servicing and Maintaining Equipment

Article 110 was revised in the 2023 National Electrical Code to include a new general requirement that directs how service and maintenance operations are performed and addresses qualifications of those performing it. It does not, however, require maintenance across the full spectrum of the Code. Specific requirements for maintenance and periodic testing appear in the NEC, which made the substantial case for new Section 110.17, “Service and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment.”
