The seventh annual Union Craft Labor Supply Survey done by The Association of Union Constructors (TAUC), Arlington, Va., is underway for 2021, and NECA is encouraging its members to participate.
TAUC is a trade association for the union construction industry. Its membership is composed of over 2,000 contractor companies that use union labor for their projects, as well as local contractor associations and vendors in the industrial maintenance and construction fields.
NECA emphasizes that it doesn’t matter if you are a union contractor, an owner-client or a member of the building trades, your voice is important, and the industry needs to hear from you. Your responses to TAUC’s seventh annual survey will help create a detailed, data-driven picture of the current state of the labor supply throughout the United States and will assist the entire industry in planning for the future and increasing union market share.
Responses to the 2021 TAUC Union Craft Labor Supply Survey are confidential and are submitted anonymously. The responses will be grouped together and analyzed to create a final report that will be made available on the TAUC website.
According to TAUC, the resulting data set will be such that they will allow for educated decision-making and action that can strengthen the industry and increase market share.
The survey was first launched in 2015 and has been continually enhanced based on the feedback of a wide cross-section of previous responses, including more than 3,250 contractors, labor representatives, owner-clients and construction association representatives.
“This survey will drill down into the specifics of both regional and national labor supply trends and further assessment of the union craft workforce,” said TAUC. “New this year, the survey addresses pension funding issues, portability, COVID-19, and potential emerging markets.”
