On July 26, 2016, Schneider Electric introduced its New Energy Opportunities (Neo) Network, an online networking tool designed to help companies find the best renewable energy solutions for their business.
According to a video released by Schneider, NeoNetwork has three main functions.
First, NeoNetwork users can access up-to-date information about clean energy, including government reports and case studies.
In addition, companies can create a company profile outlining their clean energy goals and join discussions on the NeoNetwork moderated forums to exchange information and best practices with other companies with similar goals. For example, say a t-shirt manufacturing company has a goal to use 100 percent renewable energy by 2025, but they don’t know how to achieve that goal. What should they try—solar? What’s the most efficient? What’s the most cost effective? On the forum, they can engage with other users who might suggest a new technology to explore or describe their own experience trying to reach this same goal.
Finally, NeoNetwork also helps companies connect with technology and service providers like manufacturers and developers. Let’s return to the t-shirt manufacturer. After speaking with other companies on NeoNetwork, they’ve decided to invest in solar panels on their building’s roof. But who should they work with? What panels should they buy, from where and who will install it? Using NeoNetwork’s searchable map, users control several parameters including location and technology type and then can browse a mapped list of pre-screen options.
