Intersolar North America, a solar industry exhibition and conference, is featuring next-generation solar products and cutting-edge technologies from exhibitors from around the world. It offers a prize for innovation in the industry, the Intersolar Award, which now has a category recognizing landmark solar projects within North America.

The window for applications for the 2012 Intersolar Award closed in March. Winners will be chosen based on their project’s innovative strength and outstanding services and products.

The fifth anniversary of the Intersolar Award will see the jury award up to three winners from categories of “Photovoltaics,” “Solar Thermal Technologies” and “PV Production Technologies.” With the addition of the new category, “Solar Projects in North America,” exhibitors will have the opportunity to submit their groundbreaking and unique projects for consideration and will have the potential to play a role in developing and increasing the significance of solar energy, providing a model for the future.

A total of 301 innovations from 25 countries have been entered for the Intersolar Award since it was established. Each year the quality of the applications increases. With the new category specifically aimed at North American innovation, this year will reflect the talent and innovation coming out of the North American market.

The winner for the new category will be announced in July.
