Kentucky Utilities, the Lexington-based power provider, will embark on a much-needed upgrade to its high-voltage transmission lines this summer. The project will involve more than four miles of lines running between two substations, one in southeast and one in east Lexington. The project is long overdue, as the lines have not been worked on in more than 60 years.

Many of the lines and poles to be worked on are located on private property, in the back yards of local residents, and the company has notified all of the residents who will be affected.

Kentucky Utilities Company is a regulated electric utility serving 77 Kentucky counties and five counties in Virginia.
