In a press release on November 21, Boston-based EnergySage announced its new project, Community Solar Marketplace, the first online community solar power marketplace in the U.S.

EnergySage, an online solar marketplace, has allowed users to learn about solar technology, locate pre-screened solar installation companies and compare installation quotes online since 2011.

Their new venture, Community Solar Marketplace, follows a similar model, although it targets individuals who don’t want to install solar panels on their own property and would prefer to join a community solar program. Community Solar Marketplace helps users research, compare and sign up for community solar projects in their area, including monthly subscription-based model and ownership programs in community solar gardens.

"Until now, this fragmented industry was very difficult for consumers to navigate and for community solar providers to acquire customers in," said Vikram Aggarwal, CEO and founder of EnergySage. "As the leading online marketplace for solar, we saw a clear need to streamline the search process between buyers and sellers, just as we've done for rooftop solar. We're proud to be taking the lead in helping people who cannot or prefer not to install solar panels on their property find community solar projects near them."

EnergySage already works with a variety of community solar companies including Arcadia Power, BlueWave, SunShare, Clean Choice Energy and Syncarpha and gives users the ability to search for community solar projects in 43 states and the District of Columbia. Users outside of these states or in areas without community solar project options can sign up to be notified of future projects.

Visit www.energysage.com to learn more. Qualified developers and companies interested in listing their projects on the Community Solar Marketplace, should contact Tess O'Brien at [email protected] for further information.
