On April 14, 2020, President Donald Trump announced the formation of a Great American Economic Revival Industry Group, a task force with a focus on reopening the U.S. economy. Representing a range of different sectors, the groups are composed of “executives, economists, scholars, and industry leaders,” according to a White House press announcement.

The sectors are agriculture, banking, construction/labor/workforce, defense, energy, financial services, food and beverage, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, real estate, retail, sports, tech, telecommunications, thought leaders/groups and transportation.

In total, almost 200 people were named to the economic council.

Named to the construction/labor/workforce sector was David Long, CEO of the National Electrical Contractors Association. Long will be representing the electrical industry among other construction industry leaders, including Sean McGarvey of the North America’s Building Trades Union and Jerry Howard from the National Association of Home Builders.

“I want to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to participate in this group of esteemed executives, economists, scholars, and industry leaders from across America,” Long said in a statement put out by NECA. “This pandemic has challenged our nation like never before. Together we will work to develop solutions to keep America safe and protect our workforce, all while creating opportunities for our contractors to resume the unprecedented growth seen earlier this year.”
