I want to begin this month’s column with a few questions: What was the last conference or convention you attended? Was it affiliated with the National Electrical Contractors Association? One of the things I have enjoyed most about becoming NECA’s president has been the insights I’ve gained and friends I’ve made by traveling the country and connecting with other electrical contractors at NECA events. If you have the opportunity, I encourage you to do this in 2019. Make your plans soon, and get your employees involved, too.
I learned early in my career how important it is to get out and meet people at industry events. It’s not only good for your personal and professional development, it will make a difference with your company’s bottom line. This year is a special one because of NECA Now 2019. The executive leadership summit, which occurs every other year, will take place in April in Phoenix, and registration is open. Expect even more of what NECA does best, along with exciting new upgrades: an opening session lunch, world-class speakers, a selection of interactive breakout sessions and new challenges organized for attendees. And that’s just the start. From the Women In NECA Leadership Summit and the Future Leaders Conference in March to NECA’s labor relations, legislative and safety conferences in April and May, there are plenty of exciting options to choose from. Where do you want to make an impact in our industry?
Finally, please don’t forget: NECA’s annual convention and trade show is heading to Las Vegas this September. It’s never too early to think about the best ways to capitalize on what has become the most anticipated event of the year. Make networking a priority before, during and after your trips. Your preparation will be worth it.
