March 5–11, 2023, is Women in Construction (WIC) Week. Celebrating it’s 25th anniversary, WIC Week is sponsored by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and “celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry.”
This year’s theme is “Many Paths, One Mission,” which highlights the different paths women have taken to reach a common goal: strengthening and supporting women’s successes in construction.
NAWIC has chapters in 47 states. To celebrate WIC Week, many of its members will make presentations to students, hold site tours, offer hands-on projects and more. Those interested are encouraged to find a chapter and see what events are being held. All construction firms are encouraged to participate in WIC Week and show support for female employees.
This year’s WIC Week events include a panel on women in trade leadership roles, a “DE&I Panel: Hot Topic Discussion with Leading Women in Construction,” establishing boundaries and avoiding burnout and more. These events are all accessible over Zoom.
