The US Green Building Council (USGBC) has relaunched its Greenbuild365 Web site, offering increased educational features, podcasts and expanded resources, along with year-round access to plenaries and master speaker presentations from USGBC’s Annual Greenbuild Conference and Expo. Users also can find courses and get tips on building green.
“We are no longer designing and constructing buildings in the same way we have always done,” said Peter Templeton, senior vice president of research and education, USGBC. “The green building movement offers an unprecedented opportunity to respond to the most important challenges of our time, including global climate change, dependence on nonsustainable and expensive sources of energy and threats to human health.”
According to Templeton, the work of innovative building professionals is the driving force of the green building movement. Greenbuild365.org provides a forum where that leadership can be shared.
United Technologies (UTC) is the founding sponsor for the Web site.
“Research shows many in the building industries misjudge both the costs and benefits of building green,” said Andrea Doane, UTC director of community affairs and corporate giving. UTC hopes to increase awareness of the costs and benefits of building green.
As part of UTC’s commitment to Greenbuild365, it is providing free online courses for team leaders at Habitat for Humanity sites across the country.
