The National Training Center (NTC) launched two new training opportunities for free.

First, NTC announced a promotional free webinar series dubbed "Free Fridays." According to NTC Vice President Bryan McLane, the free webinars will be held on the second Friday of each month. They will cover a variety of training topics. The first webinar in the series will be held on Friday, June 11, at 12 noon EDT. It will cover the new NICET CBT exam for fire alarm systems certification.

The second opportunity is for authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs). According to McLane, the AHJ Academy will offer training to help AHJs better understand the electrical industry and codes as well as prepare them for NICET fire alarm certification. The training covers general fire alarm technology, NFPA 72 and NICET. The AHJ Academy will be available starting in July 2010.
