In 1974, Marvin Groves Sr. founded Marvin Groves Electric Co. Inc. to provide quality electrical work for Wichita Falls, Texas, and the surrounding areas. While building a successful contracting company, Marvin was grooming his son, Marvin Groves Jr., to manage the company for future growth.

In June 2007, the U.S. Small Business Association awarded the Jeffery Butland Family-Owned Business of the Year award to Marvin Groves Electric. The award recognizes a family-owned business with outstanding growth in sales and profits while also providing employment opportunities for both family and non-family employees. The award acknowledges a company that shows potential for long-term business growth while providing voluntary community services.

Marvin Groves Electric Co. is a family-owned business that has been serving the greater Wichita Falls area for more than 30 years. The company is currently owned and managed by Marvin Groves Jr., who started working for his father while he was in high school.

Martin Groves Electric Co. has been heavily involved at Sheppard Air Force Base working on projects ranging from renovating the base medical treatment facility to upgrading the infrastructure of Sheppard’s airfield.

According to Tandy Weaver, small business specialist for Sheppard Air Force Base, “This family-owned firm has been a strong partner to and member of Team Sheppard. Their efforts have been instrumental in helping us meet our primary mission: global training to sustain war-fighter capability.”

Marvin Groves Electric Co. has grown from a few to 28 employees with expectations to hire more this year. The company has started training the third-generation family members to maintain the business as family-owned.   EC
