Richard Petty won a record 200 races during his NASCAR career, including taking the checkered flag seven times at the Daytona 500. To celebrate its own string of victories, Ideal Industries, Sycamore, Ill., has kicked off the Start Your Engines sales promotion, running through April 11, 2008.

The number of wire connectors purchased by contractors determines their Start Your Engines rewards. The grand prize for buying 200,000 connectors is a trip to the Richard Petty Driving Experience (RPDE) for rookie driver training, which puts customers in the driving seat of a stock car for eight laps around a racetrack. For purchases of 50,000 connectors, customers get to ride in the passenger seat as an experienced RPDE driver takes them for three laps at speeds approaching 165 mph.

For buying 25,000 connectors, customers will receive a $50 AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts gift card, an Ideal remote control race car or Rubbermaid travel cooler/warmer.

For buying 50,000 connectors, customers will receive a $100 AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts gift card, a four-lane slot car racing set or a Black & Decker auto-jump starter/compressor.

For buying 100,000 connectors, customers will receive a $200

AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts gift card, a Garmin GPS navigator or a Nintendo DS gaming console with Pro Street racing game.
