I hope all of our NECA 2023 Philadelphia attendees had a wonderful experience at this year’s convention! Every year, I am amazed at how our NECA staff manages to make these events even grander and more beneficial than the year before. With a lot of discussion at convention revolving around emerging technologies, I wanted to take a moment to share some thoughts and insights on the ever-evolving landscape of our industry.

The pace of technological advancement in our field is nothing short of astounding. New electrical technologies are emerging and they hold the potential to revolutionize the way we work and live. From more efficient energy storage solutions to advanced power distribution systems, these innovations are critical to providing sustainable, reliable and cost-effective solutions to our clients.

As we adopt these new technologies and methods, our commitment to workplace safety remains unwavering. The integration of augmented reality and virtual reality in safety monitoring and training can significantly enhance our safety protocols. The use of artificial intelligence (A.I.) can also improve safety implementation and efficiency. From predictive maintenance to autonomous grid management, A.I. is enabling us to operate in smarter ways than ever before.

Wireless power transfer technology, often referred to as “wireless walls,” can possibly change the way we distribute electrical energy within buildings. Imagine a future where power outlets are a thing of the past, and our devices seamlessly draw energy from the environment. We are keeping a keen eye on these developments and evaluating their feasibility.

These are just a few of the up-and-coming innovations NECA is continuing to learn about and embrace. Remaining adaptable and continuously updating our skills and knowledge to stay at the forefront of the industry is imperative. Our dedication to innovation, safety and sustainability will ensure that our members remain leaders in the electrical technology sector.
