This is a thrilling time to be a part of the electrical construction industry! Our skilled professionals are seeing a unique and innovative mesh of functional electrical amenities and sustainable design. Some of the most exciting developments and initiatives for sustainable practices are in the areas of historic building retrofits, full-home electrification and innovative projects like the electrified locker room.

The latter concept reimagines the many aging sports and recreational facilities throughout the country with a sustainable lens, integrating state-of-the-art electrical solutions to enhance energy efficiency and user experience. New features heighten the electrical efficiency of athletic spaces, whether it be through strategic lighting, internet of things devices, digital displays and sound or simple-to-use touch panels.

Our industry stands at the forefront of blending tradition with technology. Historic buildings are treasures of our architectural heritage, yet they often fall behind modern energy-efficiency standards. Our focus has been to retrofit these structures with advanced electrical systems that not only preserve their aesthetic and authenticity, but also enhance their functionality to meet today’s green standards. Our members have been pivotal in driving this change, providing expertise and solutions that assist the transition to energy-efficient wiring, LED lighting and smart controls, while safeguarding the legacy of these venerable buildings.

As we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in electrical retrofitting and electrification, I encourage all members to remain engaged with our initiatives. Your active participation and feedback are invaluable as we shape the future of our trade and contribute to a more sustainable world.
