The holiday season may have come to an end, but electrical contractors but can rest assured that the charitable efforts they undertake will carry over into the new year and beyond.

This holiday season, workers at two Pennsylvania electrical contractors, Carr & Duff, Huntingdon Valley, Pa., and G.R. Noto Electrical Construction, Clarks Summit, Pa., chose to honor the spirit of the giving season by conducting food drives for charities within the communities they serve.

Carr & Duff kicked off their campaign in November with a company-wide food collection in support of Preston and Steve’s Camp Out for Hunger, an annual week-long event hosted by Philadelphia morning radio’s the Preston and Steve Show on 93.3 WMMR. The event supports Philabundance, a Philadelphia-centered nonprofit whose mission is to “Drive hunger from our communities today and to end hunger for good.” Towards these ends, Carr & Duff employees collected over 250 pounds of food for the charity.

G.R. Noto collected and distributed dozens of boxes of food and a cart full of donations for their local food bank, the Gathering Place. Employees delivered the items on Dec. 20, ensuring that at least a few families in need enjoyed a holiday meal. G.R. Noto also kept up their tradition of purchasing local poinsettia plants to display in their offices throughout the holiday season.

The efforts of both were recognized and affirmed by Jeff Scarpello, NECA Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter executive director. “On behalf of a grateful chapter, we thank the employees and leadership of Carr & Duff and G.R. Noto Electrical Construction for their incredible generosity in collecting food donations during the holidays to help efforts to drive hunger from our communities,” he said. “Their work is an example of the wonderful support our NECA members give year-round to help those who need it most.”
