As I wrap up my time as president of NECA this December, I find myself reflecting on how far our industry has come and how bright the future truly is when we embrace innovation and collaboration. Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the incredible progress our industry has made. From embracing emerging technologies and advancing safety standards to strengthening our workforce and expanding opportunities for the next generation, NECA contractors continue to set the standard for excellence.

Together, we’ve built a foundation for growth that will support our industry for decades to come.

Being in the thick of the holiday season, I’m reminded of the power of light, not just in the work we do, but in what it represents. Lighting connects communities, brings warmth to our homes and illuminates celebrations around the world. As electrical professionals, we have a unique role in promoting safe, efficient and effective lighting practices, ensuring that every installation reflects both craftsmanship and care for everyone involved.

Lighting, both literally and symbolically, has always represented what we do best. We bring light to the world, powering progress, safety and comfort in every environment we touch.

Serving as NECA president has been one of the greatest honors of my professional career. I’ve seen the dedication of our contractors (large and small) who exemplify excellence in every job, every bid, every apprenticeship and every partnership. Though my term as president concludes, my commitment to NECA’s mission and this industry remains.

I am confident that NECA and its members are positioned to lead the next era of electrification, energy efficiency and sustainable construction. My sincerest best wishes go out to NECA’s incoming president, Mark Walter, as he takes the helm of this incredible association. The challenges ahead are real, but so is our collective resolve. Our industry thrives because we never stop adapting, never stop learning and never stop building a better, brighter world.

As we prepare for a new year, let’s continue to lead responsibly, innovate fearlessly and light the way forward together.

Wishing you and your families a joyful, safe and bright holiday season.
