It’s an exciting, transformative time for our industry, with the integration of cutting-edge technologies like 6G, IoT lighting controls and the ongoing evolution of wire and cable management and building controls. While there are many opportunities as these systems become more widely implemented, there are also challenges.
The backbone of our industry, wire and cable management, is witnessing a revolution. The demands for higher efficiency, sustainability and smarter infrastructure require innovative approaches and materials. That brings us to building controls, which have moved beyond simple automation and are now integral elements of building design. The integration of IoT devices and systems offers control and efficiency, but can also prove challenging with installation, integration and maintenance.
While 5G is still being deployed across the globe, the industry is already buzzing with talks of 6G. This next generation of wireless technology promises to revolutionize how we live, work and interact with the world around us—which includes many aspects of building controls. Our focus should be on education and training.
NECA’s goal is to equip our members with the skills and knowledge to install, manage and troubleshoot these advanced systems, ensuring they are not just participants, but leaders in this shift. We are committed to supporting every member with the resources to thrive in the future we are shaping.
