Staying Connected

Like most of you, I’m spending more time at my computer than I’d like. Between all the virtual meetings and FaceTime calls with family and friends, it feels like my life revolves around a screen. I’m not complaining, as it is great to remain connected and productive.

While one more screen-based activity might not sound appealing, I want to make sure everyone is taking advantage of the virtual learning opportunities NECA offers. Educating members and staff has always been one of the association’s biggest priorities. During these unprecedented circumstances, you have access to our best learning tools at a time when you might make best use of them.

You can join the webinars live, and all past webinars are available as recordings. In addition to presentations on electrical contracting best practices, the Technology Spotlight Series examines a vetted construction technology every Friday, giving you an inside scoop on one of the many tools that have flooded the industry. These informational webinars provide an educational overview of the key functions and expert analysis on how the technology can be used in your business.

Several webinars focus on the response to the coronavirus pandemic, such as “Finance Considerations Amid COVID-19” and “Culture, Coronavirus and Recovery” with psychologist Gustavo Grodnitzky, which are timely and relevant. Dr. Gustavo is a fantastic speaker and one of my favorites. Other webinars offer more general business advice. Recently, for example, we welcomed Nic Bittle to discuss communicating with difficult people on and off the job. Also, OSHA joined us for a special webinar on safety resources during our Safety Stand Down on April 29.

One of the most entertaining webinars I’ve joined was hosted by David Meade, our NECA Convention emcee and international speaker and business leader. In “High Performance Through Crisis,” he explained the growth mindset and tools we can use to strengthen communication and encourage discretionary effort. He’ll be hosting webinars frequently as we build up to our convention this October.

That’s only a few of the incredible tools available through NECA’s Learning Center. Be sure to check out the schedule and follow NECA on social media to keep track and join in! It is important to use this time wisely and strengthen your company for the future.
