In 1999, I remember attending my first National Electrical Contractors Association national convention in New Orleans. It was overwhelming to see all the trade show products and attend many seminars. Since that time, some of my most memorable moments have come at our NECA conventions—the guest speakers, seminars, classes, trade shows and the spectacular receptions that fostered connections among peers across America.
These events have helped me personally and professionally, enhancing our company, chapter and apprenticeship programs. Each year, the convention adds new opportunities for everyone in every aspect of our industry. Held in the City of Brotherly Love for the first time in 50 years, this year’s convention will be the best ever.
Why do I bring this up? Because now is the time to register for NECA’s convention in Philadelphia, held Sept. 29–Oct.2. What a great host city, home of the Super Bowl champion Eagles and so much of America’s history. We expect more than 10,000 attendees from all over the United States, from every level in the electrical construction industry. I promise you will experience not only the best educational opportunities but also the greatest networking events for you and your organizations.
You will see every electrical product from the BIM Cave and Techtopia to the next business innovations from hundreds of exhibitors. We have a full agenda of seminars, classes and town hall meetings as well as ELECTRI International research focused on you, no matter your level or position in the electrical construction industry. One of our most exciting events will occur on Sunday, Sept. 30, when IBEW President Lonnie Stephenson, NECA CEO John Grau and I will spend time with more than 2,000 apprentices, discussing the future of our trade.
So, please register for NECA 2018 Philadelphia. Early registration is now open. You don’t want to miss this incredible opportunity to help drive you and your company into the future.
