Adapt and Evolve

Early this month, we had our virtual convention and trade show, NECA 2020 LIVE. It was chock-full of education and inspiring talks, and it offered the industry connection I’ve been looking forward to all year long. While it was not the event we originally planned, I am extremely proud of how well we have adapted to the challenges presented this year. I would also like to extend a very special thanks to NECA 2020 LIVE’s main sponsor Powering Chicago, our premier partners and all the exhibitors and vendors who showed up to participate in and support our virtual trade show.

The team at NECA, and all our members, are shining examples of what can be achieved through a little creative thinking and determination. And that doesn’t just apply this year—the electrical contracting industry has persisted for more than 100 years on teamwork and providing solutions and expertise to people across the country, every day. As we know, NECA is built on a legacy of protecting the public and making innovation possible. This is why I never lost confidence in our industry, despite the setbacks we all experienced in 2020.

For me, the success of NECA 2020 LIVE is more evidence of the spirit and resolve of NECA—the national and chapter staff as well as all our members. We took a problem and turned it into an opportunity, and that is what makes our industry so special. From the interactive trade show floor to the education and creative networking and social events, there were moments when I couldn’t believe it was all happening right at my desk.

As we enter the final quarter of this unique year, I want to take a moment to celebrate everything we have accomplished over the last few months, and I look forward to the opportunities we will find in the future as we continue to adapt and evolve.
