NECA Holds Safety Stand Down

The National Electrical Contractors Association sponsored a Safety Stand Down on April 29 with the goal of recognizing electricians who are essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants were encouraged to use this time to learn about their company’s protective methods and safety policies during the pandemic while giving their suggestions for improvement or changes. Participants were encouraged to post on social media to share the ways they held the stand down in their companies.

NECA’s department of standards and safety held a webinar on April 29 with OSHA presenters. Participants heard from Scott Ketcham, director for the Directorate of Construction; Chris Brown, special assistant in the Office of the Assistant Secretary from OSHA; Michael Johnston, executive director, standards and safety at NECA; and Wesley Wheeler, director of standards and safety. David Long, CEO at NECA, made opening remarks.

This webinar included a presentation from OSHA, information developed by NECA’s safety team for member and company use in safety related discussions on the job and information on how to prepare job sites and protect employees from possible exposures.
