On Monday, nominations opened for the 2017 Klein Tools Electrician of the Year Award, an annual contest to find the best electricians in the United States. Electricians may nominate either themselves or another electrician they feel is deserving of the honor. The nomination period lasts through Aug. 6.

Klein Tools will select six regional finalists from the nominations, and visitors to the company’s website will be able to choose their favorite from Sept. 11 through Sept. 15. These regional winners will each receive a 41-piece Klein Tools set as part of the company’s Ultimate Garage Package, along with a trip to the Klein Tools manufacturing headquarters in Mansfield, Texas.

The grand prize winner, calculated and chosen by Klein family members following the fan vote, will win a trip to their choice of four “iconic” American destinations: Charlotte, N.C.; New York; Las Vegas; or Sturgis, S.D. The winner will also receive a one-time order of $1,500 worth of Klein Tools products. The final announcement will be made on Sept. 27.

“Over the last 160 years, we have heard amazing stories of how electricians dedicate time to their communities, take ownership of difficult work and strive for professional achievement,” said Greg Palese, Klein Tools’ vice president of marketing, in a press release. “We want to celebrate these electricians for their hard work and for powering America’s passions.”

Selection of the 2017 Electrician of the Year is based on three criteria: professional achievement, safety excellence and community dedication. Klein Tools is looking for electricians that take pride in all three of these areas, and hold themselves to the highest standards.

Nominations for the award can be submitted at www.kleintools.com/eoy. Only online nominations will be accepted, and the contest is only open to residents of the United States.
