The Venture Lighting Institute (VLI) is offering an online training series for free, running through the end of the year. This online series covers lighting concepts to Venture products. The curriculum is designed toward electrical distributors and lighting designers. The series is offered once a month for a half hour at with a three part series running October through December.

The VLI still is hosting its traditional on-site classes to complement the free training program.

“We feel strongly as a team to continue our commitment to providing education on the newest lighting trends in metal halide and we recognize businesses within our industry have lim-ited travel budgets, expenses and training opportunities. Our online series assists with continuing education that is needed,” said Amanda Foust, director of the VLI.

Several subjects qualify for a half (.5) continuing education credit. The classes are kept short focusing on key target subjects and products.

“Offering short and precise topics for training is essential to a successful online pro-gram,” said Foust. Like other industries, the lighting community is susceptible to the current economic times, which have lead to reduced expenses and heavier workloads. The Webinar se-ries offers a no-cost, condensed curriculum for lighting professionals.

The online training is provided via WebEx technology, which requires users to have a computer with online access and a telephone connection to conference into the pro-gram. Presenters include key experts, such as engineers and lighting designers. The format is presented in slides and allows for interaction on the call between participants and the trainer.
