World leaders in lighting presented the issues, technologies and opportunities affecting the industry today and tomorrow to leading media representatives from the leading business, trade and consumer outlets at LIGHTCongress 2003.
Highlights of LIGHTCongress 2003 included panel discussions on the future of light, light and the environment and what’s cool in lighting design. New product trends were presented, including the latest in LED and luminescent technology, compact and energy efficient products, and electronic controls. Discussions on light and the environment centered on new energy-efficient lamp and fixture products, light pollution, product recycling and the latest in environmentally friendly products.
LIGHTCongress 2003 was sponsored by LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL 2003 (www.lightfair.com), the world’s largest and most comprehensive annual architectural and commercial lighting Trade Show and Conference, to bring heightened focus on the exciting developments taking place in lighting, and to draw attention to the formal show taking place at the Javits Center, May 6-8.
According to Renee Gable, vice president of LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL, “LIGHTCongress 2003 provided a platform for show organizers and exhibitors to raise public awareness of light in our everyday lives. Without question, LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL 2003 will be our largest event in terms of attendance and exhibitor square footage since its inception 14 years ago, and we wanted to give the media a taste of what attendees will find here.”
Gable added that this year’s LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL 2003 will feature something new: the LIGHTFAIR Institute, offering two days of intensive academic training with professors from Parsons School of Design, Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, University of Oregon, The Lighting Education Institute, University of Colorado, University of Washington, and top design firms.
Gable also noted that more than 19,000 architects, interior designers, end-users and other specifiers of lighting products will be in attendance at LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL 2003.
