SAN JOSE, CA (Nov. 12, 2002)––The fastest growing segment of the electrical industry in Northern California, voice-data-video (VDV), now has its own web site, posted today as www.norcalvdv.org.
The web site, believed to be the first in the U.S devoted to VDV, is sponsored by the Labor Management Cooperation Committee (LMCC) of Northern California and Northern Nevada, which serves union contractors and VDV installer/technicians in Silicon Valley, Northern California and Reno, Nevada.
The Northern California LMCC is composed of representatives from both labor (the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, or IBEW) and management (the National Electrical Contractors Association, or NECA). Through the LMCC, IBEW and NECA work together to promote the interests of the electrical industry, including VDV.
Voice-Data-Video includes such high-tech areas of the electrical industry as structured cabling, network cabling, local and wide area networks, A/V and presentation systems, fiber optics, enterprise security systems, wireless technologies, access control systems, closed circuit TV, data centers, fire/life safety systems, and public address systems. Northern California VDV grew by an astonishing 1,264% in the last eight years, leading growth in the U.S. Nationally, the industry is expected to reach revenues of $30 billion this year. EC
